About Mike Mackay

Mr. Mackay is the head of the Workers Compensation and Personal Injury Departments at Kornbluth Ginsberg Law Group, P.A. He brings several decades of experience to the firm. Mr. Mackay’s experience includes, but is not limited to, working as the Director of Claims Administration at the North Carolina Industrial Commission, being the managing partner of the workers compensation department for one of the largest personal injury firms in North Carolina, and also, at earlier stages of his career, working for one of the largest insurance defense firms in North Carolina. Mr. Mackay’s experience also includes being a Board Certified Specialist in North Carolina workers compensation law from 2006-2021. Mr. Mackay is also a certified mediator by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission. As an attorney advocating for a party at mediation, Mr. Mackay’s experience includes more than 1,000 mediations during his career.

Personal Background

Mr. Mackay lives in Raleigh with his wife, who is an attorney in Durham, and his daughter, who is a high school student. Their son is a college student at UNC-Chapel Hill. Outside of work, Mr. Mackay enjoys traveling with his family, UNC sports, and attending his daughter’s soccer games.

Mr. Mackay is a native of North Carolina who graduated in 1993 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. He earned his undergraduate degrees in Journalism and Political Science from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1987. Prior to entering law school, Mr. Mackay worked as a newspaper reporter. He is admitted to the State Bar of North Carolina and the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts of the Federal Courts in North Carolina.
